We welcome people with all time of travel experiences, whether you have never left the country or you have traveled to many countries. Solo traveling is encouraged. Bali is a safe and a beautiful opportunity to start your international adventure. We tend to get a beautiful mix of people with adventurous spirits and open minds from all different backgrounds who are ready for more! Individuals just like you who are ready to embrace the world through adventure, travel, connection and nature!

How often will we practice yoga?

We will practice half of the days. We encourage participants to take part in as many classes/workshops/sessions as they can but also invite each participant to take care of themselves even if that means taking a break, time alone to reflect and go inward. All classes are highly encouraged. Every day there will be meditation or physical yoga practice or a transformative workshop.

Where is Bali and how do I get there?
Bali is a small island set amidst the 17,000+ islands of the Indonesian archipelago. It is approx. 3 hours due south of Singapore, and 3 hours north of Perth, Australia. The international airport is called Ngurah Rai International (DPS) located in the city of Denpasar.

Do I need a visa?
Yes, a visa is required for Indonesia. A visa-upon-arrival system is in place for most countries including Australia, Canada, US & EU citizens. When you arrive at the airport in Denpasar you will enter the Visa-on-arrival line, your passport will be stamped for 30 days from the date of arrival. *Must have a valid US passport with at least 6 months remaining in validity.

It is a super simple process and the best part? It’s Free! US Citizens are granted a free 30-day visa on arrival.

Can I stay longer?
Absolutely! You will probably want to!... We highly suggest having a few days post retreat to relax from the action packed week of transformational experiences OR explore the nearby islands. We offer a customizable island hopping adventure package where we will guide you to the islands around Bali. This package includes shuttles, boats, taxis, accommodation, breakfast, snorkeling and all tickets. Whatever you choose, we can help you in booking tours and accommodation.

Should I rent a car?

It is not necessary, nor advisable, to rent a car in Bali. A car and driver can be had for $20-$40 per day. Inexpensive transportation is readily available. Renting a motorbike is an easy, fun way to explore the island and motorbike rentals are as low at $5/day. During the Retreat experience you will not need transportation as it is included in the retreat cost. Taxis/drivers are available through the villa at an affordable rate during your free time.

Should I bring a yoga mat?

Yes! However, there will be yoga mats available at the villa in case you don't have one. You are more than welcome to bring your own to guarantee the quality you like.

What is the food like?

Daily breakfast will provide a variety of fresh local fruits, toast, eggs and traditional Balinese breakfast items like sticky rice with coconut palm sugar or Balinese crepes. The two group dinners (included) are Balinese fusion, presenting traditional dishes with a healthy spin. All meals provided by BeFlow Bali will be organic, local and vegetarian. If you have food allergies, preference we do our best to accommodate, depending on your requests there could be a small added fee. Be prepared to be open and willing to try new foods and embrace the Balinese culture. When we are out adventuring we will be eating at various restaurants around the island. These Warung (restaurants) will have meat, fish, vegetarian, and vegan options.

What if I have to cancel?

We hope you don’t, but please see our terms for all of our policies here.

Is there internet access on property? should i bring my laptop/ipad?

While we hope you’ll try and unplug and take the much needed time OFFLINE… yes, there is WiFi at the villa and at most restaurants around the island.  It is totally your decision to bring electronics or leave them at home. We are not responsible or ANY loss or damage to ANY of your belongings. If you feel the need to bring your device(s) you will have the opportunity to utilize the free WiFi connection at the villa.

What do I do about cell phone service while in Bali?

Great question! IF your phone is unlocked you can get a local SIM card to use during your time in Bali. Approximately $7 for 8-12GB of LTE data! Super affordable and you will have data all over the island.

We can assist you in getting a SIM card once you arrive to Bali. If your phone is not unlocked, many of our previous participants connected to WiFi at the villa, restaurants and spent most of their time disconnected. There is plenty of WiFi across the island and most felt it was enough without the need of an international phone plan.

What will the weather be like?

Because of it’s equatorial location, Bali tends to have fairly stable weather with the ‘wet’ season occurring between October and April and the ‘dry’ season between May and September. It is generally always warm with temperatures hovering in the mid to high 80s. We will be staying in Ubud which is located in the jungle hills so this area tends to be a little cooler than on the coast.

I’m traveling alone, can I still sign up for the shared room?
Yes! We encourage you to sign up! In past Adventure Retreats this has been a great way for Fearless Adventurers from all over the world to meet, connect and build a life-long tribe! We’ll do a great job pairing you up with a roommate!

What kind of clothes should I pack?

We provide you a customized packing list that will ensure you have everything you need for this transformational adventure, including the style and important pieces of clothing and travel items. During the retreat, Genta Village offers laundry services at a small additional cost. Please see our personalized packing list to best prepare you for your transformational retreat experience here

Cultural Awareness Tip - When visiting a temple, shoulders and knees must be covered using a local sarong - a beautiful piece of clothing that covers your waist and knees. You will have many opportunities to purchase a sarong in the local markets of Ubud during your free-time. The Balinese people welcomes the western tourists with love and respect so it's important to respect the traditions and lifestyle of the Balinese culture.

How do I exchange money?
Probably best to wait until you get to the airport in Denpasar. There are bureaus where you can exchange cash or travelers cheques, and ATMs are everywhere that take Visa and MasterCard. Visa is the most widely used.  Few restaurants and shops take American Express. In fact, most of the restaurants & shop we will be visiting do not take card at all. You will be using cash/currency for most of your stay in Bali.
It’s helpful when you change if you can ask for some additional ‘small money’, bills in denominations of 1,000 / 5,000 / 10,000 Rupiah.
The exchange rate is approximately 15,000 Rupiah = $1.00 USD Basically, things cost a lot less in Bali!

A reminder: Tell your bank and credit card companies the dates that you will be in Bali or elsewhere, as they might cut off your funds for fraud protection if they are not notified of your abroad travels.

Travel tip: Using your debit card at the hundreds of ATMs on the island is often and less expensive and easier way to get cash. Call your bank ahead of time to ask what the international ATM fees are. Often times they are less than to exchange currency at a currency exchange center.

Is Bali safe?
YES! The Balinese people are among the most friendly in the world. As for safety in the streets, there is little violent crime, especially in Ubud. In beach areas one has to take precautions against pickpockets, just as most beach tourist spots in the world.

Are there any health concerns I need to be aware of?

It is recommended that you visit your doctor or practitioner, or a travel health clinic 4 to 8 weeks before your departure to Indonesia. Recommended vaccinations often include hepatitis A, typhoid, tetanus and polio. Bali is not a high-risk area for malaria and the tablets can be considered controversial, we recommend that you do some research and make your own decision on this.

Please read more on the CDC Official Website

What if I need to see a doctor?

There are plenty of international medical clinics in Bali – especially in Ubud and Kuta (near Denpasar). If you have a minor illness or ailment, you will be just fine. These clinics usually do not accept health insurance, but they do not cost much. There are also many international clinics here that can provide standardized care if needed. Should you need specialized care in a dire emergency, you would need to be evacuated to Singapore. It is always wise to purchase travelers health insurance with evacuation coverage

Where can I purchase travel insurance?

Get a quote here for travel insurance. We highly recommend World Nomads as they are the leading company in travel insurance with the highest quality coverage and best rates!

What about sanitation?
Any hotel or home stay will have bottled or filtered water available, and 99% of restaurants on the island use bottled water for all cooking purposes. Nevertheless, it is advisable to drink and brush teeth with bottled water.

Will I need an adapter to use the outlets?

Bali utilizes the European plug (two round pins) and is at 230V. We recommend a universal adapter to charge your phone and other electronic devices. The outlets here in Bali are not compatible with US prongs. This can easily be found on Amazon or purchased in Bali on arrival at the local market.
